Diana, Princess of Wales won a salute when she wore a uniform for the first time on December 7, 1984. As patron of The British Red Cross she wore a navy blue two-piece uniform with a matching beret-style hat. Diana was attending a carol service in Bristol to the mark the diamond jubilee of the Red Cross Youth Group.
