Story Starters - Using Story Bags in the Writing Center

Photo Source: apartmenttherapy.com | Jackie Boucher While it's very likely that your kinders are über creative on their own, we still love the idea of using story bags in the writing center. They're sure to prick the imagination and it's super fun to see how each child can use the same elements to come up with a completely different tale! Story Bags Find simple brown paper lunch bags or recycle handled bags you have lying around the house {Jackie over at Apartment Therapy used Starbuck's…

Work on Writing

The Daily 5 craze is all around us. I'm jumping on that ship for sure! I can't lie, I'm super nervous. I actually really loved the way I ran my choice centers before {you can see how I did that here}, but they were A LOT of work switching them out every 2 weeks, making copies {we're doing a paper crack-down at my school}, and finding missing pieces all over the room! Fun with Frog and Toad and FREEBIES!

I've talked about Frog and Toad before- and how much I love using these books in my class. I love the relationship between Frog and Toad, and the stories are just right for the kids near the end of Kindergarten. It works out perfectly, because that's when we usually have frog and toad eggs to watch in our class. Although, the stories are great any time of the year. I made a Frog and Toad Prezi (free at my TPT store) that I use all the time in the spring when we are watching our eggs (and…
