Osun (Oshun, also spelled, Osun, Oxun, Oshoun, Oxum & Ochun) is an Orisha, which is a spirit that reflects one of the manifestations of Olódùmarè (Supreme being/God) in the Yorùbá pantheon. Osun is the cosmological force of fresh waters (rivers, streams, lakes) not to be confused with Yemoja (Yamaya) who resides in salt waters (sea). Osun represents the power of water and its ability to nourish, bringing us healing and aiding fertility. Whilst commonly associated with love, sensuality and bringing prosperity she is also known to be a strong guardian if her banks and shores are protected and respectfully treated.
