Prayer is at the center of each Daughter’s life, providing the strength, support, and inspiration to lead an often-challenging life of service. Daughters are women of the Church who consecrate themselves to the Lord in order to serve the poorest and most vulnerable. Their charism is service to persons who are poor. The Eucharist is an essential part of daily life, and all Daughters participate in mass daily. Let Us Pray, Eucharist, Daily Prayer, Prayer Request, Vulnerability, Branches, First Love, Prayers

St Vincent de Paul, co-founder of the Daughters of Charity, is remembered today, his Feast Day and the anniversary of his death (1581 - 1660). St. Vincent stressed three attitudes for his companions in the Congregation of the Mission and the Daughters of Charity, but they are also applicable to us who are not Vincentians, namely: mutual respect, condescension (humility) and bearing with the weaknesses of our neighbors. A St. Louis native and nurse, Sister Amelia served in hospitals in New Orleans, LA, and Montgomery, AL, before caring for Hansen's disease patients for 22 years in Carville, LA. From 1979 to 2000, she served as receptionist at DePaul Health Center. Today, she serves in the Ministry of Prayer at the Sarah Community and awaits her 81st year of vocation in September!
