Sir Sultan Muhammed Shah, Aga Khan III, (November 2, 1877 – July 11, 1957) was the 48th Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslims. He was one of the founders and the first president of the All-India Muslim League. His goal was the advancement of Muslim agendas and protection of Muslim rights in India. He was nominated to represent India to the League of Nations in 1932 and served as President of the League of Nations from 1937-38. He was instrumental in the creation of Pakistan.

Prince Ali Salman Aga Khan (1911–1960), known as Aly Khan, was a son of Sultan Muhammed Shah, Aga Khan III, the leader of the Nizaarii Ismaa'iilii Muslims, a sect of Shia Islam, & the father of Aga Khan IV. A socialite, racehorse owner & jockey. He was passed over for the title of Aga Khan for his son. In 1960, Aly Khan sustained massive head injuries in an automobile accident in France, when the car he was driving collided with another vehicle. He died shortly afterward
