Arthur William Matthew “Art” Carney (November 4, 1918 – November 9, 2003) was an American actor in film, stage, television and radio. Carney was drafted as an infantryman during World War II. During the Battle of Normandy, he was wounded in the leg by shrapnel and walked with a limp for the rest of his life.

Art Carney (1918 - 2003) Actor, Comedian. He is most remembered for his role of city sewer worker ‘Ed Norton,’ in the long running television series, "The Honeymooners" (1951-1956), in which he played the foil to Jackie Gleason's bus driver role of ‘Ralph Kramden.’ He won 5 Emmy's for that role, and a total of 7 Emmys altogther. He also won an Oscar for Best Actor in 1974, of his role in the movie "Harry and Tonto" (1974).

He is most remembered for his role of city sewer worker ‘Ed Norton,’ in the long running television.
