Sarah E. Good was the first female african descent have a patent granted by the U.S. Trades Mark for his invention of a folding bed , on July 14, 1885. Unleash the end of the American Civil War , Goode moved to Chicago and became a businesswoman, owner of a furniture store. Their customers often complained that they had plenty of room for the beds in their apartments, and so with this idea Goodie created a design we know today as bed-folding.
