Killed In Action, Captain Edward Canfield Fuller USMC (USNA 1916). Captain Fuller was killed on June 12, 1918 while serving with the 6th Regiment (Marines), 2d Division, AEF in German attack on Bois-de-Belleau, France. He was killed when he fearlessly exposed himself in an artillery barrage in an effort to get his men into a position of security in the attack. For his service he was posthumously awarded the Distinguished Service Cross and the Navy Cross.
