Marine Jack Marvin Redman - killed in action 1943, brought home and finally laid to rest in 2015 According to his family, on the left, with a bandaged hand, is Pvt. Jack M. Redman, Headquarters Company, 3rd Battalion, 6th Marines Regiment. His first combat action was the Tarawa invasion. He was killed on November 23, one of 9 Marines killed at Tarawa on the last day of the battle.

Eddie Albert, he is best remembered for his role of lawyer-turned-farmer ‘Oliver Wendell Douglas' on the classic television comedy series "Green Acres". He enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II, he was an active participant in the Battle of Tarawa in November, 1943, one of most savage battles in the Pacific Theater. He is credited with braving enemy fire during 26 rescue missions saving wounded U.S. Marines, and was awarded the Bronze Star with a combat ‘V.'

3/2 Camp Lejeune, NC- 3rd Battalion 2nd Marines is a U.S. Marine Unit based out of Camp Lejuene, NC.  Also known as "Betio Bastards", it consists of approximately 1000 Marines and Sailors. The battalion was first activated in 1941 and has since served in many engagements around the world. The 3/2 charm is a sterling silver rendition of the 3/2 insignia.  "Betio Bastards" is written on a banner around the insignia.  It is accented with red and yellow enamel.
