Listening to Poetry / On September 18, 1996, the publishing house Farrar Straus Giroux celebrated its 50th birthday with an evening of readings by 11 poets at New York's Town Hall. Among the poets who read from their work and the poetry of others were the current Poet Laureate of the United States, Robert Pinsky, and two winners of the Nobel Prize for Literature, Seamus Heaney and Derek Walcott.
