Cheapest place is Lowe's or Home Depot. Cowboy brand or Frontier brand Lump hardwood charcoal. Ask if activated. Toss some in an old pillowcase (because it will ruin it) filled up to no more than 1/3 to 1/2 way. Drive over it about 4 or 6 times. Any leftovers will come in handy for springtail cultures.
