There is more to this breed than the eye-catching coat, but let’s begin there. The Curly Coated Retriever is covered top to bottom in tight curls of either black or liver. This dense covering serves as waterproof and thorn-resistant all-weather gear for dogs bred to work in thick bramble and icy lakes. This is a big, durable hunting buddy, but Curlies are more elegant and graceful than the usual run of retriever.
