While Hoare's clerks humorously referred to themselves as the Association of the Sons of Toil, the records support the literature in revealing the relatively cosseted career of the bank clerk within Victorian clerical circles.

The main office of Selznick International Pictures, the production company which made GONE WITH THE WIND (1939), was located at 9336 West Washington Boulevard in Culver City. It had previously been built as the Thomas Ince Studios, and later successively became the site of films by Cecil B. DeMille and RKO Pictures. In 1958, it became Desilu, and is now the Culver Studios.
