Byakue Kannon (White-Robed Kannon), Kamakura Era, Nara National Museum

Hōrai Garden (蓬莱の庭) (Kamakura era style), which you can enjoy by walking around the garden, is used here, and there are islands in the pond. The islands in the pond are an imitation of an ancient Chinese concept of paradise, with the fountain of eternal youth gushing forth. It is said that this garden expresses Hōrai’s ideas, which include a longing for a world where people will not grow old and die.
