Frankie Howerd Francis Alick "Frankie" Howerd OBE (6 March 1917, York – 19 April 1992)[1] was an English comedian and comic actor whose career, described by fellow comedian Barry Cryer as "a series of comebacks",[2] spanned six decades. A tortured genius could never reconcile to being gay, was complicated and difficult but loved by millions.
