Best instructions on making a Settle Down Jar from Momma Owl's Lab. She tells how to adjust the settling time.
What a neat way to have your child take a break/time out to calm down. There have been multiple times in our house when this would have been very helpful!

So, What Happened Was...: Settle Down Jars
Kids' settle down jar...Calm Down Jar This cute Time Out idea was on Pinterest and I decided I must make one! All I did was fill up a pint jar with water, 1 drop of blue food coloring and some glitter. I have whichever kid is "doing time" shake the bottle and watch it settle. Once the glitter has settled, they've had time to calm down and talk about their problem. It's quite soothing actually
The Calming Jar jar or bottle with a lid, 1 tbsp of clear glue (or glitter glue) to each 1 cup of (hot) water to fill the jar, add in glitter (I added about 1 inch of glitter) food colouring (optional)
How to make a settle down jar when you are mad shake it and you're not allowed to talk until all the sparkles settle down ingredients: jar, water & sparkles
The finished "settle down" jar in action. The upset student gets to shake it as hard as they can and then watch the glitter swirl, when it settles they should be settled.
Settle Down Jar to give kiddos something to focus on as they calm down - hot water, 1 tube of glitter glue, and 1 small tube of loose glitter (2 different colors of glitter/glue) - add glitter glue then loose glitter to water, tighten lid, and test shake - when you have the desired amount of glitter, hot glue inside the lid before permanently sealing to prevent leaks. Best to use a sturdy water bottle like Gatorade (not Deer Park etc).
Calm down jar. Fill a jar with glitter and water. When kids are acting up tell them to shake it to get out their frustrations And then sit and watch it until all the glitter settles.
