The 'Little Boy' atomic bomb used against Japan, 1945.

Known as 'Little Boy' this was the first weaponized nuclear device. It was loaded into the Enola Gay in August 1945 and used to help end a long and painful war.

On August the United States dropped the atomic bomb known as Little Boy on Hiroshima, Japan. Three days later, they dropped another atomic bomb, this time on Nagasaki.

Paul Tibbets stands by the Enola Gay in an undisclosed location. The Enola Gay a B-29 was the first plane to drop an atomic bomb. Tibbets, his crew, and the Enola Gay dropped the bomb (Little Boy) on Hiroshima Aug 6, 1945. Three days later another bigger bomb (Fat Man) was dropped on Nagasaki. The two bombs effectively ended the war in Japan.
