CASTLES OF SPAIN - Castle of Almansa, Albacete. One of the most beautiful castle in Spain, is perched on a steep rocky place that raises its spectacular silhouette on the plain. We are facing a border fortress between the kingdoms of Castile and Aragon and the Muslim kingdom of Murcia. The castle it belonged to the kingdom of Murcia, and was not until the reign of Ferdinand III of Castile, “the Saint”, when the kingdom of Murcia surrendered (1244) to Prince Alfonso,( Alfonso X “the Wise”).
