This is a modern depiction of the battle between Hercules and the Nemean lion. Even today, the myth shows up in modern art. There is no artistic credit available, other than it was created by Weta Workshop.

This is another one of Typhon's children called the Nemean Lion. Its hide was impenetrable which allowed him to rule his territory with fear. Until Hercules came and slayed him as one of his chores to become a God.

This picture is a great illustration showing the battle between Hercules and the Nemean Lion. This was one of Hercules first big battles (after killing his two sons). Hercules would then take the lion skin and head and wear it proudly. He is shown in several paintings and sculptures with this image. Peter Paul Rubens illustrates the battle between Hercules and the Nemean Lion.

The Nemean  lion was a vicious monster in Greek mythology that lived at Nemea. It was eventually killed by Heracles. It could not be killed with mortals' weapons because its  fur was  impervious to attack. Its claws were sharper than mortals' swords and could cut through any armor.
