She is wearing a rich décolleté dress of red and blue, and carries a laurel crown over her left forearm. Her right hand rests lightly on Homer’s ‘Odyssey’ and ‘Iliad’ and Virgil’s ‘Aeneid’. Lo stile usato da Catullo all’interno delle sue opere è uno stile medio arricchito da una sapiente miscela di lingua letteraria e lessico familiare che esaltano la sua capacità plurilinguistica. Infatti il poeta, come dimostra nel carme 64, è in grado di passare da una scrittura leggera e leziosa influenzata dalla poesia alessandrina, ad un tono serio con termini e nessi dell’epica arcaica con un’elevata ricchezza di similitudini e movimenti di intensa partecipazione emotiva.
