The narrator-Susie Salmon, was raped and murdered in 1973 and now resides in her heaven. This is no maudlin tale, not at all sugar coated, which may be hard for some to take, as it was for me at times. Yet, I kept reading cuz I was so amazed at what was being offered.. something that affects more women than most people know. I applaud Sebold for her bravery in putting forth her story. It's not an easy read nor one to be taken lightly, but I feel that I learned so much from it.
