Ieyasu was the last of the Japan's great three unifiers emerging out of Japan's era of civil war (Sengoku Period) of the 16th century. Ieyasu went on to establish the Tokugawa Shogunate, which lasted from 1603-1868 and brought an unprecedented period of peace and prosperity to Japan.
