Castle Stuart, Inverness, Scotland

1,000 views on 28th April 2013 Situated on the coastal plain between Inverness and Fort George (Ardersier), Castle Stuart is a 17th century structure standing out from the otherwise flat agricultral land. It is currently staging a Santaland attraction, to which my grandson went today with his mother and grandmother, while yours truly sat about outside - thankfully I had my camera with me, as it was a long wait!!

A selection of your pictures taken across Scotland from 20 to 27 September.

In the early 1650s, using to stone taken from Greyfriars Church and St. Mary's Chapel in Inverness, as well as from the monasteries at Beauly and Kinloss, a new fort was built in Inverness. Its construction was ordered by Oliver Cromwell and it was intended to extend his government's influence in the north of Scotland. It was completed in 1658, the year Cromwell died. Charles II was restored in 1660 and the fort was demolished in 1662, at the request of the Highland chiefs. The tower remains
