Last week's photo of the day theme was evening wear. With prom season right around the corner and so many winter balls and galas taking place, it is the perfect time to look at the most glamorous of all vintage evening gowns and dresses. We can't forget the gentlemen, too, who always look so fine

Dressing a man in the 1910s, during the late Edwardian fashion era, was not very different from today. Men's Edwardian fashion included suits during the day, formal tailcoats for evening, and slightly more casual attire for sporting events. The look showcased youth with slimmer suits and brighter colors compared to the oversized and bland fashion

“choose your favorite fashion era!”

The gray days of winter have me looking forward to spring and lighter/brighter clothing. I scanned these from a 1949 insert of the pattern department of the Philadelphia Inquirer. The green ensemble with matching beret in the first picture has my name all over it. I love the color combination. While the 30s is my absolute favorite era, there are so many things I love about the designs of this time period too. So pretty!

Edwardian fashion was characterized by the new S-bend corset and pouter pigeon shape. It was an era of luxury with elegant dresses and expensive fabrics.
