54/40 quilt block

This traditional 54–40 quilt block pattern may be set diagonally or straight with plain blocks. When made with pink, rose or yellow with green, the effect is a bud.

I was watching Fons and Porter a couple weeks ago and they showed this quilt. I found it quite striking especially when they revealed it was a combination of two patterns, Shoofly and 54-40 or Fight. "54-40 or Fight" is the name of one of the blocks Ellen used for this quilt. She alternated them with different blocks to achieve a secondary circular pattern. Isn't this an amazing quilt? Ellen usually quilts her own quilts but this one is a special gift, and I was happy to quilt it for her.
