This Great Horned Owl is half sized. Carved from Tupelo and painted with Gouache ( a highly pigmented acrylic paint. While the body of the sculpture is Tupelo the feet are carved from American Holly. I used Cherry burl to support the carved branch with pealing bark. The base is a stained Spaulted Yellow Birch. The wings inserted. Feather detail is carved and painted on both the outside and underneath.
