Craftsman-style homes are a classic staple of American architecture, celebrated for their beautiful porches, striking rooflines, and natural wood details (not to mention those charming built-ins!). Their appeal has stood the test of time. Over a century since they first gained popularity on the West Coast and spread nationwide, these distinctive silhouettes remain as beloved, charming, and timeless as ever.

Since 2015, when Ashley and Ross Goldman bought a Craftsman-style bungalow in their hometown of San Diego, California, they've worked diligently to turn it into a warm, stylish, modern home—which Ashley chronicles on her blog, The Gold Hive.

The bungalow (1900–1930) had close ties to the Arts & Crafts movement, an affinity made stronger during the recent revival, when thousands of bungalows have been upgraded to standards set by Gustav Stickley and his The Craftsman magazine.
