I can never find Cubano Bread like you get in Miami with the famous Cuban Sandwich. It's virtually impossible to find outside of Southern Florida. You have not lived until you've had one of those babies! I have included three methods below- Manual, Mixer, and Bread Machine methods. This is the best recipe I have ever tried for Cuban bread. I lived in Key West, FL for a time and could get bread fresh in the bakery. When I moved back to SD it was NO WHERE!!!! I had to make my own. I found this recipe on the King Arthur website and have used it ever since.

I have attempted Sourdough Banh Mi (Vietnamese Baguette) several times with egg, eggless as well as egg white only and also with Yudane and Non-Yudane Method. I found that the recipe with egg is probably better as I get a more fluffy crumb. The texture is very soft, fluffy with crispy crust. The crust is very crispy and it stays for few hours (around 2 hours for our tropical high humidity weather here). Please toast the bread to restore the crispy crust if necessary.

Here is a Cuban bread recipe, the real one that uses lard to give the famous taste you can’t find anywhere but at homes of real Cubans. Dovetailing tips: Double the recipe so you make 2 loaves. One of the loaves, make into a round. Bake this round on a baking sheet. You will use the round for the Cheesy Bacon Pull-Apart Bread for Meal 5.
