Can you believe we’re just days from November?? I swear time just speeds up. Although at the moment I’m really antsy! Yes, in part because I want to get past the hopped-up on Halloween feeling in my classroom, but I’m also excited to switch out my writing station. It tickles me to see how much ... Read more

what does a daily 5 classroom look like? with pictures on the table and bookshelf

It begins with a description of a Daily 5 classroom and makes me smile. The teacher is working with a single student or a group of students. Students know where classroom resources are and move comfortably and independently around the room. #daily5 #daily5kindergarten #daily5firstgrade #daily5secondgrade #daily5schedule #daily5organization

a binder with the text daily 5 binder on it and an image of two children

In my school, we use daily 5 for reading instruction. I set up daily 5 a little bit different. I teach third grade and there is just so much to fit in! When I was trying to fit in all daily 5 rotations a day I was not getting to the important stuff and I was not having enough time with my students. So, I do one rotation a day for 20-30 minutes. The students do each rotations for daily 5 once a week and they meet with me once a week.

Literacy (aka Daily 3 Bootcamp) - modified daily 5 for intermediate- Really good ideas for modifying D5!

Centers just DON'T work for me and my kiddos. I use the Daily 3, an adapted version of the Daily 5. My Daily 3 are Read to Self, Work on Writing, and Word Work. Since I am required to use a basal…

When I started at my new school last year, I came into a new reading program. I was used to doing almost all of my reading instruction WHOLE CLASS, but my school uses a guided reading model all the way up to 5th grade. I definitely had to rethink my reading block! I had done centers in the past, but wanted a really clear way to maximize the time and make the transitions clear for the students. Here's how I do my guided reading block! ROTATIONS We have Guided Reading/Centers Monday-Thursday…

the daily 5 rules are written on a white board

Here's another link up. I tried to do something similar with the Assess Me Linky with the Tattooed Teacher. But this one is different., this one you have to write a list of all the things you want to write in the future. It'll be nice to see what others have and maybe grab some ideas. I know I always need help with my brainstorming before writing a blog post. So here goes my list. Here's my list!! I really hope this is a hit, share on your blog please! Enjoy your Sunday! I'm back to work…
