My tree ring design was printed on a laserjet printer, then transferred onto scuffed up metal with acetone and gently burnished with a popsicle stick. The design didn’t completely transfer so I filled in the gaps with sharpie. After etching in Ferric Chloride for 30 minutes, I then removed the laser jet print resist with acetone.

In my early attempts with this project I first etched a piece of copper and thought I could form it and solder it to the copper stump base but realized that would be way too difficult!  So, I took what I learned from other jewellers and treated this like soldering a backplate to an XXXL bezel, trimmed the “backplate” edges, then etched the top.
