Study on Shishkin by Michael Handt- Oil on canvas - 60cm x 80cm - This is mainly a copy of Ivan Shishkin's painting "Thickets" from 1881. I chose a slightly browner and more yellowed colour tone and tried to make the hill less steep. I have been looking at a lot of master's paintings lately and as a result of that I wasn't too happy with my technique. Therefore I figured that copying some of my favourites could help to improve my brushwork.
