How to build a floating deck

A ground-level deck can be built from 2×6 if the span is less than 9’0″ (2.73m), using ground contact treated lumber. Under a 2×6 deck, the ground will need to be covered to prevent weed growth through the decking on such a low deck. The decking needs to be designed for ground contact or sufficiently raised off the ground to prevent rot.

Using TuffBlocks as a foundation makes building a floating deck super easy.

TuffBlocks work great over a range of surfaces. Here they're used on gravel and what was originally soil. Crusher dust was used as a base under the TuffBlocks for stability.
