How to make comics

Some things I've taught myself through out the years. I have not gone to college for art or comics, these are things I've learned by just trying to make comics by myself.

I think most of us have heard of Moscow-based illustrator Gudim Anton. He is well known for creating short paneled comic strips full of visual puns and odd quirks that offer a fresh perspective on the modern world. However, as of recently, the artist has been circling around a slightly different idea. Anton created a new Instagram account called “YES, BUT” which includes just two-panel comics telling ironic short stories based on our current society and its values.

British illustrator Harry Hambley, 21 years old, going by the name of Ketnipz on Instagram, manages to express his ideas and inner universe through comic illustrations of a pink bean-shaped persona. And this character isn't alone, as it has a trusty grumpy dog companion (doggo) and a cat (ket). What makes these comics so brilliant is that they can make a point and make you laugh in just a few panels or a single image.

I've wanted to make funny comics ever since I was little, but never felt like I was good enough. The closest I got was a short-lived scribble I made at 7 years old, about my big sister as a superhero. It only lasted 5 panels and 5 minutes before she told me to get out of her room.
