This is a traditional Japanese doll with kimono called 'Kimekomi ningyo', made in Taisho era around 1912-1926s. Kimekomi dolls are made of woods. The clothes are glued or forced into a slot in the base of the doll. Some of kimekomi dolls like this are contemporary to the Japanese poet and painter Yumeji Takehisa (1884-1934) and are inspired by his world.
