Tidal Movements are influenced by both the Sun and the Moon but the Moon has by far the greater effect on our tides. These tides which occur twice daily rely on the rotational harmony between these two celestial bodies as well as the merging of their gravitational forces.

Kids love oceans, and to play in them. As we started our studies of swimming creatures we decided to have some fun ocean currents experiments.

Conducting an experiment on ocean tides will help students to develop a better understanding of how gravity works. The experiment will explain why the Earth has a bulge on the side, directly beneath and directly opposite the moon. The moon's orbit creates ocean tides using gravitational pull. Before beginning, explain to students that gravity is the force that pulls all matter in toward the Earth's center.
