a colorful patchwork quilt hanging on the wall

Last spring, I participated in a big scrap overhaul hosted by FeelGood Fibers. I decided it would be easier to organize a smaller, less-daunting pile of fabric, so I started the process by pulling bits for a project or two. One of those projects was Plaid-ish, a free pattern from Erica Jackman (Kitchen Table Quilting) that has been made by thousands of quilters. I highly recommend this pattern. Because Plaid-ish uses no background fabric, it’s a super-duper scrap buster! I like to rein in my…

the scrap friendly project is featured in this quilt pattern, and it's easy to make

Fall has me reaching for my plaid flannel shirts for a cozy layer. The Plaid-ish Free Quilt Pattern translates the plaid print of my favorite shirts into quilt form. Nothing says fall quite like a good plaid. With every style of plaid from checkered to Tartan, incorporating this timeless pattern into quilts is a must. […]

a patchwork quilt on a wooden deck

After seeing this Plaid-ish tutorial by Kithen Table Quilting I just knew I had to make my own version of the quilt. I had gotten hold of a variety of red/pink scraps, and played around with the values to make the best-looking color combination. It is a scrappy quilt, but you can really see the plaid-ish design. Doesn't this look like a nice quilt to cuddle in during cold fall evenings? When making a quilt like this it is recommended to check the values of your fabrics with black/white…

a multicolored patchwork quilt is hanging on a pole in front of some trees

Debbie Jeske on Instagram: "Finally finished my Mini Plaid-ish quilt! I'm calling it "Threequel," since it's the third #plaidishquilt I've made from tutorials by @kitchentablequilting. It was all about the scraps for me, so I let them speak. And sure this used plenty, but of course the scrap basket is still full. Backing and binding were pieced from a mix of stashed #denyseschmidtfabrics, and quilting was done in an uneven grid with #aurifilthread 40wt 1148 [Light Jade], which I really love.

Felie H. on Instagram: "My Plaidish Quilt top is done!! I enlarged the original pattern to king size and worked in sections on our kitchen floor hoping that the rainbow gradient I envisioned in my head, would turn out once it was all pieced together! A huge thank you to my friend Rosie @stitch.panda.studio who did her magic and quilted it! an old patchwork quilt is laying on a table with some thread in the middle

I have had many questions regarding my Scrappy Fence Rail Quilt that I shared last Friday. So I thought I would take a post to share a bit more about it and hopefully answer your questions. First of all, I was asked what I meant by leaders/enders. Bonnie Hunter has a great explanation on her…
