Today I made this little baby quilt, using Windham's Story Book fabrics and Wee Play for the backing. These fabrics reminds me of my great grandma's dresses, just gorgeous! This quilt came out of nowhere. A newly arrived bundle of pink, orange and sour lemon was just begging to become something pretty. The colors were inspired by the print on the right from Dreamin' Vintage by Jeni Baker. On Friday I started thinking about granny square quilts. The next thing you know I was a cutting out a new quilt top. I woke up on Saturday and wandered over with my cup of coffee to take a peek on the progress. The colors were even prettier in the morning light. The pieces…

Recently I was able to field test a pattern by Hunter's Design Studio. I was a little slow in getting it together, but here's the completed top. 49 x 63 inches http://huntersdesignstudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/HDS.035-FourteenOnPoint-Cover-300dpi.jpg The pattern uses 14 fat quarters and is constructed in sections. It's an easy way to make a quilt that looks difficult. I have a few extra fabrics in my version. I was using fabrics from my stash and a few pieces were not fat quarters…

One aspect of quilting that was overwhelming to me at first was background fabric. There are so many different shades of white! Not to mention all the other fun colors one can use. Today I'll share my experiences with them. Get ready to get into the details! We'll start with whites. I break up "whites" into 3 categories: bright white, creamy white, and cream. Here's what they look like all together. Here is bright white (with beige), creamy white, and cream in projects. It's tricky to…

(finished quilt size 50 X 63) A month or so ago, I received a go! Baby cutter from Accuquilt. I was really excited that they decided to send one to me since I had used and loved the regular Go! cutter to cut the fabric for this quilt. I'm going to take a little segway here, but it all fits in in the end, promise! My weekend was filled with family visiting from Kansas from Thursday evening until late Monday morning. We spent one day grilling and kayaking/tubing the river, most of another day…
