When Mariela and Mat, who met in 2018 at a tattoo convention, decided to tie the knot, they knew that while they didn't have a particular theme or vison in mind, they wanted something that incorporated their love for the desert, retro decor and tattoos. They found the perfect spot in downtown Las Vegas at the Sure Thing Chapel, featuring an officiant with a twist: Hellvis, the chapel’s resident 'spooky and campy Elvis' evil twin'. Allie and Brian describe their first moments of falling in love as ‘like the same existential self-discovery that so many people waxed lyrical about in the late ’60’s and early 70s’. So, coupled with their love of music from the same era (cosily nestled between the folk and Rock n Roll genres), they used this as a starting point for the shaping their wedding around that same kind of ‘groovy, grounding energy.’

The day was held at Three Sisters Sanctuary, a museum and garden in Goshen, Massachusetts which is known for its eclectic mix of of sculptures, flowers and stones.
