We finally finished our solar system! Yeah! Simple fun science art project. Used regular craft paints and styrofoam half spheres from Hobby Lobby. We used hot glue to attach them to the wall. Painted the sun rays and used sharpie markers for the labels. Easy and awesome!!

The Solar System display board in our classroom. The boys made the planets and Sun (the ones who aren't too good with pencil crayons did the cutty sticky Sun :)) We know Pluto isn't a full planet, but it fits with the mnemonics.

Yes! Today we used toilet paper to learn about science! How fun is that? To better understand how far from the sun each planet is we made a model. Remember kids...I am not Ms. Frizzle and can't turn our school bus in to a rocket ship and take you to the moon, therefore we have to make a model.
