We moved straight from making groups of tens and ones into our science skill of sorting objects in a variety of ways. If you don't know by now, I LOVE introducing concepts with the combination of an anchor chart and book! This little cutie was inspired by Cara. If you've never heard of this book, it is a fabulous way to introduce the concept of sorting. The little mouse has a lot of "junk" and sorts it all…

Introducing graphs to your young students might sound daunting, but it is surprising how quickly even 3 and 4 year olds can catch on when graphs are used for meaningful purposes in your classroom! I like to start out the year by completing a graph whole group once or twice a month. It is easy to use graphs along with the concepts you are learning about. Graph students’ favorite dinosaur, what Eric Carl book they liked best, or what pets they have at home. Talk about what the graph shows…

Whew! I have officially survived my second full week back in Kindergarten! I am BEAT! I am excited, because I really have a pretty good class, overall. We've had a few incidents, of course, but nothing compared to last year! It helps that I have an amazing assistant and a Granny to help with these kids! Thank goodness!!! We have been hard at work the past few weeks, getting settled into the routine of Kindergarten. I seriously think it is harder on me than it is on the kids! I'm so used to…
