Couldn't find any good examples of stain colors on red oak so I made them! I am looking for a medium stain with less orange undertones, and have found combinations of stains to be the best bet. Keep in mind the oil based poly will make the stains a bit darker and a bit more honey colored. The difference between no poly and oil based poly (2 coats) is shown for each stain combination so you can see how it changes.
