Chef David Chang was inspired to make these playful kimbap by a snack he had at Yunpilam, a temple in South Korea, where the nuns served him edamame mixed with walnuts and molasses. His rolls have an edamame-and-walnut filling; unlike other sushi rolls, they can be served warm.

Produce
- 1 Amount of cooked ingredients like sweet potato, small
- 1 Amount of pickled veggies like beets, small
- 1 sheets Nori seaweed
- 1 Pickled ginger
Condiments
- 1 Sauces like spicy mayo
- 1 Soy sauce
- 1 Wasabi paste
Baking & Spices
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1 Sesame seeds
- 2 tbsp Sugar
Oils & Vinegars
- 1/2 cup Rice vinegar
Liquids
- 3 1/8 cups Water
Other
- A flexible rubber spatula, or a rice paddle
- a little bit of fresh herbs like cilantro, if you like
- A long sharp knife -- you can use a chef's knife, or a specilaized sushi knife. This is the one I use
- A large, non-metalic bowl, like this one
- You will also want some plastic wrap for wrapping your bamboo mat, and a clean damp washcloth nearby for wiping your hands or the blade of your knife if they get sticky from the rice
- You will need a bamboo mat for rolling
