Stunning Antique Opal Crescent Brooch Pendant

The stirring colors of sultry opal have a definite understated star quality. When you set beautifully matched and graduated opals into a delicate and yet grand crescent brooch, the result is an unexpected and elegant thing indeed. Hand crafted in the Victorian era, this wonderful brooch is done in 18 karat gold with a rosy hue. It is set with 19 oval cabochon cut opals which are graduated in size, the largest one measures 7 x 5 x 2.2 mm. In between each oval opal is a small round cabochon opal, 14 in all. The opals have a wonderful play of color, lots of blues and greens with bright flashes of red and orange and gold. This brooch has a small hanger on the back to turn it into a pendant if the wearer would like. It measures 33.6 mm top to bottom and 32 mm across, it’s 6.4 mm deep and weighs 6.2 grams. This piece is unmarked and has been carefully acid tested as 18 karat gold. This smashing brooch was made in England around 1880. I offer layaway on most items purchased for full retail price.
