Walloon Lake, just south of Petoskey, Michigan, is home to walleye, northern pike, perch, rock and small mouth bass and trout, too. Fisherman love the Walloon Lake area, as did Ernest Hemingway, who spent 22 summers at the family cottage nestled along the lake's shore. Walloon Lake, named by a local butcher after a name he had seen on a railroad map, is a very desirable summer resort area.
