Namadgi National Park in ACT is just over 100km² comprising almost half of the state's area. It includes granite mountains, alpine meadows, grassy plains and snow gum forests. You can find Aboriginal rock art, quarry sites and ceremonial stone arrangements, as well as European settlers' huts, fences and evidence of pioneering farming techniques. The old railings of mining cart tracks for carrying rock and tailings from the one of the many mines to a processing area or the train station in Chloride Arizona. This "living ghost town" 22 miles north of Route 66 and Kingman Arizona pretty much defines "off the beaten track" but it is very much worth a stop over if you are traveling on Hwy 93 to or from Las Vegas and/or Hoover Dam.
