A Comfy Chair Tutorial
This is Thatch Cottage in the making... I made a little armchair from old card and some floral fabric, below you can see how I did it. I began by taking the size from another 1/12th scale chair, then I cut out some cardboard and created the basic shape. The first section of cardboard. Now add a section of card for the seat. I padded the arms and the back and even the front at the base. I then covered the back of the chair with floral fabric. I made a little cushion. I padded the arms. I…

Dollhouse DIY: How to Make Modern Miniatures from Ikea Bowls
I have to admit that I still have a weakness for dolls. Where do I begin? I began wishing for the beautiful furniture I saw displayed in Nutshell News so long ago. At last, July 1994, "Do it Yourself", page 94, Ray Whitledge publishes an article "A Sofa from Scratch". This is a very good starting place, it's where I started and I am thankful to Mr. Whitledge to this day. I am going to try to give you a…
Dollhouse Miniature Furniture - Tutorials | 1 inch minis
This is what we are going to make this month. This is my inspiration, another picture from a full-size decorating catalog. This piece is small size even in human size furniture. I made it a little wider for us to make. If you want to make it larger just change the measurements. When I want to make a piece of furniture I draft, or draw it in 1 inch scale on a piece of paper. I make notes about what materials I want to use where. Since it's already drawn in 1 inch scale all I have to do is to…
