The Point Tucked away on the Mills property is the Point, an abandoned mansion designed by Calvert Vaux.  It sits literally in the middle of the  woods, and the only way to get here is by walking down a couple of dirt roads.

Visit to the Vanderbilt's in Hyde Park

Our first stop in New York was at the Vanderbilt Mansion. This home is operated by the National Parks, so with our Senior Pass we got in free. Front of the mansion. This the back of the mansion. It faces on the Hudson River and was considered the main entrance to the house. Here are the view from the backyard. Most of the trees that are here now, were not here in Vanderbilt's time or they were much smaller. They had a yacht parked on the Hudson River. In the entry hall. The above picture is…
