My DIY fireplace makeover. Step one: Scrub the entire fireplace (it had a lot of soot) Used equal parts vinegar & water and a rag. Step two: Mix equal parts of white latex paint and water. Step three: Paint! Brush on paint and wipe off excess. Did mostly one coat (two on some darker bricks) Last Step: Painted inside with heat resistant black paint. This should have been the first step, but I protected the brick well and it worked. Done!!!
