Teaching basic economics to first graders is actually (and surprisingly) really fun! Our district resources are a little thin in this unit, but we've spent time researching books and trying out new activities until we (even the kids) are having a ball learning about what makes an economy work. If you're getting ready to teach about needs and wants, goods and services, producers and consumers, and all the other money matters, check out the ideas in this blog post before you start your planning!
