Norwegian Tine: Almost everyone associates oval bentwood boxes with the Shakers. But Scandinavian artisans were making similar lidded boxes, called tine (pronounced tee-nah) long before the Shakers settled in America.

My favorite and well-worn walnut cutting board.the unusual thing is that the handle is thicker than the cutting board, giving it a sort of sculptured look. My kids have been reluctant to use them for cutting, but they are intended to e used, of course.
